Hydrocarbons & Hydro-energetic resources

The Hydrocarbons Pontencials in Albania

  • Albania has oil, gas, coble and many other substitute renewable sources that can provide relevant supplies for energy production.

  • Oil and gas reserves mount up to 400 million tons. However only 40 million tons have been mined and produced since 1928.

The graphical material which will be presented in the Hydro energetic stand will refer to the tabulation no.2):

Hydro energetic source

Albania has significant hydro-energetic potentials, oil resources, gas, cobble and many other substitute renewable sources that can provide relevant supplies for energy production. The average annual quantity of rainfalls collected in accumulation reservoir from all Albanian rivers is approximately 1.430 mm or just about 62 milliards m3 water per annum. The chronological flow of Albanian rivers is about 1.250 m3/s or just about 40 milliards m3 per annum, with an average source variation of 640 m. It has been calculated that 10 TWh per year of electric energy which meets overall country requirements is being produced by means of the water resources of Albania (rivers and streams). So far only 40 % of the hydro-energetic potential being considered as technically feasible is exploited (the relevant global index is approximately 25%). At the present time the electric power production industry in Albania is completely relied in hydro-energy supplies whereas globally speaking this index is around 20 % of the overall electric power production.
