Agriculture

Agriculture is one of the most important sectors of the Albanian Economy, which contributes up to 21% of PBB having an average increment of 3 – 3.5%, wherewith 50% is for personal use and 50% for satisfying market demand (2006 figures)*. Families living in rural areas embrace 50% of the total population, ranking farming as the main employment alternative in the country.

However, the farming sector growth is still below the national average and far off the real potentials. This is mainly due to the problems this economical segmentation encounter, among which the following are to be mentioned as being predominant:

  • Limited farms areas (1 – 1.2 Hectares)

  • Poor product Marketing

  • Difficulties on Drainage and Irrigation

  • Low technological solution level.

  • Poor farm setting-up

  • Low development level of agricultural, food industry, etc

In the Agriculture board of the “ALBANIA A DESTINATION FOR INVESTMENTS” exhibition, apart form the abovementioned problems, many graphical materials will have an important place which will present the following (Tabulation no.5):

  • Farming and agro-nutritive production – Vision, sections, priorities, advantages and potential profits, main generative potentials according to the geographical areas and product allocation.

  • Main free resources (farming lands) as per the given areas in the form of the map.

  • Export-Import facet. Graphical presentation of the Exported and imported products scaled from the highest to the lowest figures.

  • Organic turn-out, charts of the organic production dynamics, map of regional farms generating organics.

  • Various potential projects related to agriculture and food economical segmentation; private investments’ dynamics in farming and agricultural processing.

Several successful agricultural and farm settings-up both for production and exportation; legal enhancement and the regulatory framework.
